How I Fell in Love with Seal Engraving

On an otherwise ordinary summer day in June 2024, I suddenly woke from sleep around three or four in the morning. An intense urge to learn seal engraving surged through my mind.

I had absolutely no idea where it came from. At that time, I was learning about calligraphy. My only exposure to seal engraving was when a calligraphy host mentioned it in a live stream. My understanding was limited to just knowing the two characters: “篆刻” (seal engraving).

I immediately started searching online for information—the necessary materials, tools, books, and tutorials. That same day, I purchased a beginner’s kit: a seal vise, engraving knives, stones, ink paste, and some other basic tools.

Until today, I have created this website to begin documenting and sharing this ancient art.

Later, I will share my seal carving process.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the second-best time is now.
